Kicking Off The School Year Libraries In Greater Oudtshoorn

Oudtshoorn, 29 January 2025 – On Monday, 13 January 2025, the Rosevalley Library kicked off the new school year with a Back-to-School Program. The event brought together learners from crèches, primary schools, and high schools in a celebration of education and a commitment to inspiring young minds. The day was filled with learning, creativity, and fun, setting a positive tone for the academic year ahead.

The goal of the program was to prepare children for the new school year and encourage them to rise above their circumstances, excelling in all areas of their school journey. Dedicated educators representing various schools and grades contributed to the program.

The children of the Rosevalley community face various challenges in their young lives. The dedicated team of the Rosevalley Library stated, “Through initiatives like this, we aim to equip them with the tools, confidence, and hope needed to overcome obstacles and build a brighter future. By providing them with the attention and support they need today, we’re helping them stand strong tomorrow, believing in themselves and achieving their goals.”

“We hope that one day these children will look back and remember how every program we offered became a stepping stone toward their success. Every book they read, every educational game they played, and every task they completed could inspire the next generation of teachers, professors, lawyers, nurses, psychologists, police officers, and soldiers.”

The C.J. Langenhoven Library also launched its Reading Program last week, with the enthusiastic support of Yearbeyoneers and Safety Officers. These creative and interactive sessions included captivating stories, thrilling treasure hunts, and engaging word games, making reading an enjoyable experience for everyone.

The Volmoed Library reopened its doors on Wednesday, 15 January 2025. No fines will be charged for the period the library was closed and new membership applications are also welcome. The library will operate on Mondays and Wednesdays from 08:00 to 12:00 and 12:30 to 14:30.
