Oudtshoorn, 27 February 2017 – Dysselsdorp residents are urged to use water sparingly. No water is being pumped to the reservoirs at the moment due to a breakage of the main water pump and subsequent flooding of Dysselsdorp WTW pump station this morning. Serious damage were also reported on the electrical switchgear systems inside the pump station.
The only water available in Dysselsdorp is what is currently available in the reservoirs. The Municipality is urgently addressing the problem. Parts of the broken pump and electrical switchgear are being sourced for collection so that repair work can start immediately.
Farmers in the eastern part of Oudtshoorn are also requested to use water sparingly as this also affects them.
We will keep you posted with the development of this crisis.Last published 27 February 2017
